Sallen-Key filter design implementation with the Laplace Biquad in a TutorTIMS Cloud simulation

A 2nd order Sallen-Key LPF is designed, the transfer function found and implemented with a Laplace Biquad module in simulation. The use of poles in the s-plane is studied and related to the math of the transfer function. In particular, the coefficients of the transfer function are related to poles in the s-plane, and displayed in real time simulation. This implementation is also possible with real hardware TIMS modules. Using the EMONA TIMS 6713 DSP module to implement the OFDM modem, and the 4 PATH TIME INVARIANT CHANNEL module for bandpass channel, you can see ISI and the benefit of equalization and the cyclic prefix / guard interval to protect against multipath components,with real electrical signals, in a hands-on lab.

Using the TIMS-DSP6713 module (TMS320C6713), a comprehensive list of learning outcomes about OFDM can be covered. Cyclic prefix, subcarriers, complex quadrature signals, equalisation, impulse functions, and so on can be investigated in a hands-on manner.

[Viewable in HD] The new EMONA TIMS Signals & Systems modules (4 off) enable a complete step by step, hands-on laboratory course (260 pages/13 chapters) in Signals & Systems to accompany lectures. The experiments relate the math and theory to real, electrical signal setups so students can develop and retain a tangible understanding of what this complex & abstract topic is about. So many students do not really understand this topic as it is taught early on in an engineering program. With "learning by doing", rather than animations and lectures alone, students will come full circle from math to implementation, and back to the math, with improved retention of these topics. Existing TIMS modules are used alongside the new S&S modules to implement these experiments.
