FAME and Amatrol - Comprehensive Manufacturing Education

In this video, we take a closer look at how the Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME USA) creates a pipeline of skilled workers by forging partnerships between community colleges and local industries with the help of eLearning curriculum and hands-on industrial training systems manufactured by Amatrol. 👇 More details below! 👇 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - But first, LINKS: Amatrol: https://amatrol.com/ FAME USA: https://fame-usa.com/ Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KY FAME): https://fame-usa.com/fame-program-locations/kentucky-fame/ KY FAME's AMT Program at JCTC: https://jefferson.kctcs.edu/education-training/program-finder/kyfame.aspx Michigan Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (MI FAME): https://fame-usa.com/fame-program-locations/michigan-fame/mitten-chapter/ MI FAME’s AMT Program at Washtenaw Community College: https://www.wccnet.edu/learn/departments/amtd/fame-mitten-chapter.php Northeast Indiana Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (NEINFAME): https://neinfame.com/ NEINFAME’s Industrial Technology Program at Ivy Tech Community College: https://www.ivytech.edu/programs/all-academic-programs/school-of-advanced-manufacturing-engineering-applied-science/industrial-technology/ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This video features students and instructors from three different FAME USA programs: • Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KY FAME) Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) Program at Jefferson Community & Technical College (JCTC) in Louisville, Kentucky • Michigan Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (MI FAME) - Mitten Chapter's Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan • Northeast Indiana Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (NEINFAME) Industrial Technology program at Ivy Tech Community College in Fort Wayne, Indiana The Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME USA) got its start initially with Toyota before becoming part of the National Association of Manufacturer’s Manufacturing Institute in 2019. Over time, it has expanded all across the United States with support from nearly 450 manufacturers. The FAME program is like an apprenticeship on steroids. FAME students spend two full days each week at school and the other three days working for one of the program’s manufacturing sponsors. It’s a rigorous program, but students absolutely love it. Each FAME chapter provides “an unparalleled apprenticeship-style training program where participants earn while they learn, gaining top-tier technical expertise by integrating core manufacturing competencies, professional practices, and authentic hands-on experience.” What sets the FAME program apart is the fact that its “unique earn-and-learn model blends technical training with real-world projects, both on the job and in the classroom.” Students “develop core manufacturing skills alongside critical professional behaviors such as teamwork, communication, initiative, and problem-solving.” That’s where Amatrol comes in. Amatrol’s unique blend of in-depth, flexible eLearning curriculum paired with real industrial equipment that teaches relevant hands-on skills already forms the basis for many FAME chapters across the country. Ivy Tech’s FAME Coordinator/Instructor, Ian Loughner, explains why using Amatrol’s training systems prepares students for real-world jobs: “The equipment that we use here has the same PLCs that they’re going to see in industry. The same valves that we’ve got on our trainers are the same valves they’re going to deal with at work.” For partner manufacturers, the advantages of the FAME program are clear. According to Staci Beiswanger, Onboarding/Employee Development Manager for Steel Dynamics, “FAME fit for us. We were looking for a pathway to bring individuals who had recently graduated high school into our operations in the role of mill tech or electrical tech, and FAME provided that pathway for us.” Be sure to check out the links above to learn more about Amatrol, FAME USA, and the local FAME USA chapters and community colleges featured in this video!
